BIOGRAPHY – ENGLISH:
Marc “TEE” Thijs has been on the forefront of the Belgian Blues scene since 1986 and played a leading role in bands such as The Finsbury Park Empire, The Slime Hunters, The Healers and recorded with all of them.
Starting out as a harmonica player, TEE (who received his nickname from Paladins guitarist Dave Gonzales) now switched to guitar to form “ The Electric Kings “… a band to become one of Europe’s finest blues bands of the time and a main influence for many bands to follow.
With a newly solo career and a new record “This is TEE“ (recorded with long time friend and Paladins bass ace Thomas Yearsley) TEE now found himself as one of the headliners of the 2000 edition of the BRBF or better said, the “Belgian Rhythm and Blues festival“. Many European festivals would pick up on TEE to book him as one of their main acts.
In 2004 the new record “Lights On!” received the European Blues Press award for Best Blues Album 2004 and Best Blues Band 2004, this would lead to a top spot at the “Cognac Blues Passions” festival where TEE performed a stunning show and his footprint was molded in an exclusive artwork. TEE’s footprint can be seen at the gallery of the famous Remy Martin castle next to greats like BB.King, Jimmy Vaughan, etc..
By now TEE is touring intensively and playing all over Europe with Blues greats such as Johnny Dyer, James Harman, Lynwood Slim, RJ Micho, Johnny Sansone and Mark Hummel. TEE also is a highly in demand producer and produced countless blues, rock and pop bands like El Fish, Hoodoo Club, Soulwax , The Scabs, Internationals… to name but a few.
This high pressured life would lead to TEE taking some time off from music.
To celebrate his comeback and the 26th birthday of TEE as a solo artist, the birthday cake will be cut with the re-release of “This is TEE“ and “Lights On!“.
The two CDs will be released as one double CD on the “Natural Records” label early 2026
On top of that, a brand new record is in the making and will be released in 2026.

Marc “TEE” Thijs staat sinds 1986 aan de top van de Belgische blues scene en speelde een leidende rol in bands als The Finsbury Park Empire, The Slime Hunters, The Healers en nam met hen allemaal platen op.
TEE begon als mondharmonicaspeler (zijn bijnaam kreeg hij van Paladins-gitarist Dave Gonzales) en stapte later over op gitaar om “The Electric Kings” op te richten, een band die uitgroeide tot een van de beste bluesbands van Europa in die tijd en een belangrijke invloed was voor veel bands die na hen kwamen.
Met een nieuwe solocarrière en een nieuw album, “This is… TEE” (opgenomen met zijn oude vriend en Paladins-bassist Thomas Yearsley), werd TEE een van de headliners van de 2000-editie van het BRBF, oftewel het “Belgian Rhythm and Blues Festival”. Veel Europese festivals boekten TEE als een van hun belangrijkste acts.
In 2004 ontving het nieuwe album “Lights On…” de European Blues Press Award voor Beste Bluesalbum 2004 en Beste Bluesband 2004. Dit leidde tot een toppositie op het “Cognac Blues Passions”-festival, waar TEE een verbluffende show gaf en zijn voetafdruk werd vereeuwigd in een exclusief kunstwerk. TEE’s voetafdruk is te zien in de galerie van het beroemde Remy Martin-kasteel, naast grootheden als BB.King, Jimmy Vaughan, enz.
Inmiddels toert TEE intensief en speelt hij in heel Europa met bluesgrootheden als Johnny Dyer, James Harman, Lynwood Slim, RJ Micho, Johnny Sansone en Mark Hummel.
TEE is ook een veelgevraagd producer en heeft talloze blues-, rock- en popbands geproduceerd, zoals El Fish, Hoodoo Club, Soulwax, The Scabs, Internationals… om er maar een paar te noemen.
Dit leven onder hoge druk zou ertoe leiden dat TEE een tijdje afstand nam van de muziek.
Om zijn comeback en de 26e verjaardag van TEE als soloartiest te vieren, wordt de verjaardagstaart aangesneden met de heruitgave van “This is TEE” en “Lights On”. De twee cd’s worden begin 2026 als één dubbel-cd uitgebracht op het label “Natural Records”. In 2026 wordt er gewerkt aan een nieuw album.
